Not as Expected is an understatement
I ordered a pair of J color SI1 clarity bezel set diamond earrings and received a pair of brown (no joke!) diamonds that they were trying to pass off as J in color. One had a chip on the face and it was set crookedly in the earring too boot! I immediately took them to a local jeweler for their opinion and was told that the stones were genuine diamonds, however they qualified as chocolate diamonds... aka BROWN! The jeweler went on further to show me what a K color diamond looked like that he had in the case and even let me take photos of the blatant color discrepancy. (I wish I could include them with this review) I am beside myself over this. I set up a return authorization and also contacted the sales associate that helped me with the purchase via email. I sent her the photos of the earrings and also each earring next to a K color diamond and asked her for advice on how I might recoup the return shipping cost under the circumstances. After that, a manager called me to discuss and insisted that the stones were J, but that the bezel set made them look brown. When I disagreed and went further to explain that J color diamonds could certainly look "warm" compared to a high color grade, but these were not even in the same color class, he referred to the diamond appraisal that came with the earrings and insisted that they were J because of that appraisal. The appraisal was printed on a generic plastic card and could have been made by anyone that had a printer, or the company is using the worlds worst appraisal service, but regardless, there is no way that these were J colored diamonds. Because they clearly tried to fleece me by sending me chocolate diamonds instead of J like I ordered, I asked for my return shipping costs to be refunded ($12) with the purchase refund. This is more than a simple case of 'I don't like them". I feel tricked and am fairly upset about it. A mere $12 on top of what I paid (over a thousand dollars) to make me, a customer happy, or at least feel a little less taken advantage of is all I asked and the manager became a bit hostile over my request. He told me that my opinion was that of just one person and he might take it under advisement (the additional $12 refund), but I am not hopeful. The earrings should arrive back to them tomorrow and I await my refund. I am beyond upset over this entire experience and feel that it is worth sharing. Word to the wise, shop locally where you can see the product first hand. This is not a trustworthy vendor.
