Save yourself some time and money and look for another company
I work for a national law firm and was tasked with moving the boss' daughter from Arizona to California. I obtained over 50 bids from various moving companies and settled on New Planet Moving & Storage because of several points: price, promises of meeting our delivery dates, their insurance limits and the sweet talk from their sales person, Lauren Alexandra. What we got was one horrible experience! Before contracting with this company, I made it clear we needed to have items delivered on a specific date. Lauren told me it could be done. She recommended I move up my pick up date to ensure delivery date, so we did that. The delivery drivers showed up and they were nice but when it came time to fill out the paperwork, they wanted me to sign something saying it could take up to 7 days after our preferred delivery date. WHOA - back up! We were promised it would be delivered on a specific date. The driver told me to put that in writing on the form, which I did. As you probably guessed by now, our items did not get delivered as promised. Nor did we even get a phone call about it! We were stuck waiting and when they didn't show as scheduled, we called only to find the items were in Nevada, not Arizona nor California! After several phone calls, we got through to the owner, Moses who was a complete jerk! He charged us an extra $3,000 and held our items hostage until we paid. All of a sudden, there were all these fees that we were suppose to pay. Although none of this was disclosed to us in all the written correspondence between me and Lauren, Moses still did not want to take responsibility and would not budge until we paid. He promised to send 4 guys with the truck to unload our items. Of course, we did this under duress and are now fighting this. (Did I mention I work for a major law firm?!) In the end, the owner lied to us. They only sent 2 guys, it took them another 2 days to deliver our items and not only did we have several items damaged, but they damaged the unloading dock to the high rise building. We had to put down a deposit at the high rise and because the drivers leaned a tv up against the wall, the tv slipped and gauged the wall and required over $500 worth of damages. Thus, they kept our deposit and we had to pay for the remaining balance. Now, I get to deal with their claims company, which isn't any better than the moving company! To this day, we still do not know why our items were not delivered on time, despite the many days available to get them moved from AZ to CA. Moses nor his team would never explain to us what happened. They just charged us more money before they would deliver it. Not only am I posting this on http://Yelp.com, but I am reporting our experience to the BBB and Attorney General's office in Arizona for "baiting and switching" us with their pricing. If you are considering this company for your next move, save yourself some time and money and look for another company. Thank you for reading this.
