I joined because they promised a professionally managed pool - it never was. None of the management was lap swimmers and they were not knowledgeable about pools and the needs of lap swimmers. They never installed standard lap lines to separate lanes; instead they hooked up some cheap ropes with a few floats. These lines were easily unhooked so they were often drifting around the pool. Often they were taken out and piled up on the deck. Staff allowed un-showered persons without swim caps into the pool. Staff allowed unsupervised children in the pool. Staff allowed horseplay that interfered with lap swimming. All of this was clearly visible through the glass wall. No staff was stationed inside the pool area. Water quality was dirty, often so cloudy that I couldn't see to the other end. The same trash was always on the bottom of the pool, obviously the bottom wasn't vacuumed. I ended up with a skin infection commonly associated with dirty pools and hot tubs. Thus it was inadvisable to chance re-infection in such a filthy facility. Gold's gym never fulfilled their promises of a professionally managed lap swimming facility. They would not offer any refund and ended my membership earlier than the agreed upon terms.
