Summit Alliance is out of the "business" of making loan modifications. However, that does not mean they have not opened up in California (likely in the LA area)under another name. According to the Better Business Bureau, These are the people who were either designated representatives or associated with the company as another kind of employee:
Jeffrey Bordok
Brandon Lewis
Brian Moore
Carol Geraghty
Dean Reis
Erick Jimenez
Just because these people were associated with a scammer does not necessarily mean that they were aware of the nature of the "business". Jeffrey Bordok is listed by the BBB as the possible owner.
You should never have to pay for loan modification help. First go to your lender. Then contact a local non-profit that helps with housing and finance issues. In most cases it is illegal to charge up front for modification services. Promising to return your money if the modification doesn't happen means you will never see your money.
